Brooklands Antrim throw a summer party! (July, 2020)

This week in Brooklands Antrim, activities were fun and in full swing! Thank you to Musician Catherine McCallum for attending the home and providing a wonderful live outdoor performance. Resident Kieran particularly enjoyed the singing by commenting on how pleasant the afternoon was.  ?
Residents enjoyed video calls to loved ones, ‘Car-Wash’ games, as well as garden activities and colouring-in sessions. While each of our Care Homes have fantastic Activity Coordinators who plan activities and events, every member of the team is involved in delivering meaningful moments.
Staff across Conway Group Healthcare have been going to great lengths in order to keep Residents safe, stimulated and happy. ?

Brooklands Dunmurry create an enchanted garden! (July, 2020)

At Conway Group Healthcare we are continuously reviewing and improving methods to maintain Residents’ mental and physical healthy. Weekly activity programmes offer options to make things; tapping into the creative drive that resides in everybody. This creative drive just needs to be unleashed in clever and inventive ways that triggers the imagination and inspires the confidence to try. Staff and Residents at Brooklands, Dunmurry have been exercising tremendous creativeness in the past week, by taking old and unused house-hold ornaments and up-cycling them to produce beautiful garden decor. Check out the new enchanted fairy garden. Residents took to the garden to admire the completed four-week project. In a flower garden, each specific flower provides beauty and aromas; now with the added magic of a fairytale theme, tea-time outside will be that little bit more enjoyable – Great work to all who contributed.

Brooklands Derry/ Londonderry enjoy a nature trip. (July, 2020)

Residents of Brooklands, Derry / Londonderry enjoyed a trip to the garden for fresh air and a relaxing stroll. We also received a visit from our favourite four-legged friend, Daisy! Daisy is a beloved and frequent visitor who playfully interacts and loves the cuddles and attention she receives. The calming nature of a pet has been seen to increase levels of Oxytocin and decreases the production of Cortisol. These positive health effects don’t stop at stress-relief, it is also believed that pet therapy can have a drastic effect on blood pressure. Thank you Daisy, not just for bringing a calming effect but for bringing smiles to Residents’ faces.

Kilwee Care Home celebrates July 4th! (July, 2020)

The lovely Catherine McCallum visited the Care Home to provide yet another wonderful singing performance. Residents relaxed outdoors while enjoying classics, such as ‘Stupid Cupid’ and ‘I beg your pardon’. Staff and Residents celebrated July 4th in true American style with a themed party! We enjoyed American Independence Day by decorating the home, serving traditional foods of hot dogs, burgers and potato salad and Residents took part in a patriotic sing-a-long. This was great fun. We’ve enjoyed daily activities of arts, crafts, baking, armchair aerobics, music and dance.
